Overview
The mission of the Colorado Music Festival is to educate, entertain, and challenge audiences of all ages by presenting extraordinary classical music performed by professional musicians from around the world. Founded in 1976, the Colorado Music Festival presents a summer season of classical music concerts at the historic Chautauqua Auditorium in Boulder. Sunday evening features the CMF Chamber Orchestra, Tuesdays bring chamber music and world music ensembles, and Thursday and Friday evenings showcase the full CMF Festival Orchestra.
Under the skilled baton of Music Director Michael Christie, the Colorado Music Festival thrills audiences of nearly 20,000 each season with programming that embraces the most beloved classical music repertoire, while integrating world music and the works of exciting 20th century composers. Balanced programming performed by exceptional musicians has earned CMF ten ASCAP awards for "Adventuresome Programming of Contemporary Music," and the kudos of the press and public alike.
Performances are at Boulder's Chautauqua Auditorium. A National Historic Landmark built in 1898, the all-wood structure is known as one of the best acoustical venues in Colorado. The convergence of cultural programming within a stunning environment was an integral part of the Chautauqua movement of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. CMF is proud to continue this tradition, and encourages concertgoers to explore the beauty of Chautauqua Park and indulge in the rich cultural programming available year-round.
The Boedecker Foundation supports the mission and vision of the Colorado Music Festival to educate, entertain, and challenge audiences of all ages as they present extraordinary classical music performed by professional musicians from around the world.
