Overview
The Alliance for Choice in Education (ACE) is a Denver-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2000 to provide low-income families with the power and freedom of genuine educational choice through privately funded K-12 scholarships, college-prep and education advocacy.
ACE believes that every child - regardless of race, sex or family income - is of equal worth and is equally deserving of a quality education, and that providing every child with educational choice will promote an accountable and competitive education marketplace that fosters effective private and public schools.
ACE was founded by Denver businessman and philanthropist, Alex Cranberg, whose vision was to ensure that children of Colorado's low-income families had access to quality K-12 education through scholarships. A lengthy period of initial investigation by Cranberg and other local business leaders corroborated that privately funded scholarships result in the following benefits: Improved student academic performance; increased parental involvement; increased personalized teacher attention; disciplined and safe learning environment; reduced racial conflicts; and reduced student delinquency.
Now in its eighth year, ACE has amassed an impressive record with more than 1,800 four-year scholarships provided to needy children and a total scholarship commitment exceeding $9 million. Over $13 million has been spent in overall funding, including advocacy and support of other innovative education programs and they have established a working relationship with close to 200 partner schools.
The Boedecker Foundation supports ACE's vision is to ensure that children of Colorado's low-income families had access to quality K-12 education through scholarships.
