On January 12th we all watched in dismay as the unfortunate events unfolded in Haiti.
This catastrophic earthquake has devastated a nation, and with each passing day it becomes more apparent that the people of Haiti are facing a struggle of epic proportions. Our hopes and prayers go out to the people of Haiti, as well as to all of the individuals and organizations across the world that are currently working tirelessly in an effort to provide humanitarian aid and support during these very trying times.
Boston-based Partners In Health is one such organization. With their flagship operation, Zanmi Lasante (based in the Village of Cangein Haiti), Partners In Health has developed an incredible Socio-medical Complex in Haiti - including a 104-bed, full-service hospital with two operating rooms, adult and pediatric inpatient wards, an infectious disease center, an outpatient clinic, a women's health clinic, a Red Cross blood bank, and no less than a dozen schools.
I would like to publicly thank the good people at Partners In Health for their amazing work in assisting those in need. I'd also like to encourage each of you to support Partners In Health, or any of the other amazing non-profit organizations operating in your own communities - organizations that are currently working around the clock in an effort to ease the suffering of thousands of people in Haiti, and ultimately, saving lives.
